Weekend-Wrap Up IV: To Grandmother's House we Go!

This is the series finale! My intentions were to have the series completed before the next weekend came around, but with family in town and us hosting Thanksgiving (will be a post of its own) time just got away. So, the last stop that we made on the way home on Sunday was to my Grandparent's house-- meme and papa. It was the first time they had seen Anderson! My dad decided to ride up from Beaufort and join us for the afternoon. We had a great visit and Anderson got lots of sugar from his great meme!

Weekend Wrap-Up III: Ladykillers!

On the way back home on Sunday afternoon, we had just enough time to make a couple social calls. First stop was to visit with our good friends Rob and Ginny and their son, Ford. Mine and Ginny's due dates were 4 days apart--Ginny ended up going the long haul to right before her due date (Ford was born 8/26/08) and Anderson came a bit early (8/15/08). We had not been able to get together since the boys were born and were anxious to have the boys meet---as if they would remember anything!! Brad and I were so glad to see them, and I think Ford and Anderson enjoyed themselves as well!!

Weekend Wrap-Up Part II: Let's Hear it For the BOYS!

The guys looked so handsome they needed their own posting......really, I did not get this shot on my camera so I could not post it before! I thought they at least deserved a cameo!

Unfortunately, Melanie's husband (another Andy) was unable come. He is a resident and his schedule changed at the last minute!

Weekend Wrap-Up Part I: Bringing Down the House (sort of)!

We had such a great weekend filled with so many blog worthy posts that I am going to have to have at least 2 or 3 parts to the posting! My OT girls (by best buddies from occupational therapy school) all rented a house at Wild Dunes on the Isle of Palms over the weekend for our friend Holly's wedding. Usually it is just us girls, but this time the husbands and Anderson came along for the festivities (a friend of mine, Stacy, watched him on Sat. night--thank you Stacy!!) We come from all over--Charlotte, Boston, Columbia, Hilton Head, and Winston-Salem--so getting together is not an easy feat. As usual, every time we all get together there are many things to talk about on Monday morning. But, it was apparent that our days acting as if we were at Mandalay "cause its ladies night and the feelins' right..." in downtown Charleston were over. That bar is not even there anymore if that tells you anything and we were all more interested in a good night of sleep--thus the bringing down the house (sort of) title. Wonderful laid back weekend chatting, laughing till you cry, shopping, and watching football. Only one crisis popped up.....wardrobe malfunction....Rachel's zipper broke on the dress she was going to wear to the wedding about 15 minutes before we were to leave. Pete, being the super-husband that he is, tried his best to fix that blasted thing. He might have just passed the bar exam, but that zipper got the best of him! Luckily, Shelley remembered the code to Melanie's car from our MUSC days and broke in to get the dress she wore the night before (Melanie was a bridesmaid and was already at the wedding). The dress looked great on Rachel and the show went on! Can't wait until girls weekend!!!

Yoga Pose?

I am wondering if Anderson is really learning something in the mommy and me yoga class we go to? Otherwise, how on earth can he sleep and actually be comfortable in this position?

Funday Sunday!

What a great day! We officially joined the church on Sunday! We have been attending since we moved in June (except for a brief hiatus when I was on bedrest and right after Anderson was born). Everyone there has made us feel so welcome and I am excited to find my place in the church. On the way home, we get a call from my parents who say they are on the way to visit. It was a great surprise and we were glad to be able to spend the afternoon with them. I know Anderson must have been glad to have someone else play with him and enjoyed all of the attention. Later that evening, Christie, Brad and their children--Tyler, Sanders, and Gibson---met us in Bluffton for an early supper at Paulie's Pizza. It was great to visit with them and the kiddos. Dinner also came with some entertainment as Tyler and Sanders sang us the songs they sung in the children's choir that morning in church! We loved it! Anderson slept through the entire ordeal, which is quite a change from the last time we went to dinner and he screamed the entire time!

Jingle Bells!

The most fantastic thing happened to me when I got in the car this morning to run some errands. I was becoming irritated because there was not a single good song playing. And it is not like I do not have choices---I mean, between FM, 1000 channels of XM radio, and AM (not that I was expecting to really find anything on the AM station, but you get my point). Not one song worth listening to....until I turned it to 98.7......and I hear very clearly.....JINGLE BELLS!!
Oh yes, it is here, all Christmas all the time until midnight on the 25th!

Paige and Charlie's Engagement Party!

This event was on October 25th----in all fairness, the blog was not up and running yet AND I forgot my camera so I had to wait for some pictures from others that took some. The party was given by my grandmother (meme trimmier), my aunt & uncle (Rob and Sheila), and my other grandmother (meme love) paid for all of the beverages and libations including a very talented bartender. The event was held at meme trimmier's home, was very well attended, and a fun time was had by all! Many thanks to the hosts! Congratulations Paige and Charlie!

SOLD

After being on the market 6 months, we sold our house in Mount Pleasant to the company (it was part of the relocation agreement). Bittersweet--yes. I am glad that we (mainly Brad) no longer have to manage 2 households and worry about the upkeep for it to be market ready, but I am also a bit sad because that means that we have officially left Mount Pleasant. I loved that house, the neighborhood, our neighbors--Dennis, Debbie, Paige, and Murray who was born just a few short weeks after we moved in, my job as an occupational therapist for the charleston county school district, the area in general, our friends there, and Copper Penny Shoes (love that store!). I hope the new owners enjoy it as much as we did!

Photo Shoot--WORK IT!

I had some pictures taken of Anderson and some of us together not too long ago. Since he can't do all that much right now, I just wondered what kind of pictures that we were going to end up with. He did such a great job for the Janet, the photographer, and worked it out during his shoot! He can be such a ham! Janet did a great job capturing some snipets of his personality and spent two hours working with him!

Here is the link to take a peek: scroll down to the portfolio section and look for Talbert Family

You will notice that there are none with Brad--as he had to "work late" and made it home as Janet was leaving!

Yoga is not for Sissy's

Recently, I decided that it was time to get into a organized workout routine. Anderson is too young to go to the nursery at the gym (have to be 6 months). Working out after Brad gets home is hit or miss since he often has to work late for board meetings, and other hospital business, etc... and working out at 8pm just won't work for me because I would be all sorts of jacked up and would not get any sleep that I so desperately need now. I found out about this mommie and me yoga class and signed up thinking it would be a nice and relaxing way to start to get back in shape and also Anderson could come along for the ride. Now, I do know that mommie and me exercise classes are not perfect as you have crying babies and the sorts. I was fine with that. What I was not expecting was Anderson to feel like he weighs 3 times what he actually does and to have to use both railings all weekend to get up and down our stairs because my quads felt like they were on fire. Even worse is that I STILL hurt! As the old saying goes "no pain, no gain" I guess. Nonetheless, we will be going back in a few short days for another hour of torture for the sake of fitness!

A New Sheriff in Town/Brian and Kim come for a visit!

Anderson was a little cowboy for Halloween this year--a gift from his great-grandmother, Mommie. Walking Horse, the street across from our neighborhood, has a hayride every year to take the kiddos trick-or-treating to the few houses that are actually in our area. We walked down there to meet more of our neighbors (as those of you who have been to our house know that we are the only ones on our street and the nearest neighbors are horses) and to see the other kiddies in costume. Anderson was too little for the hayride this year--maybe next Halloween he will be ready!

Our friends Brian and Kim came to visit over the weekend. We know there are busy people and are glad they were able to find the time to come visit us! Brad stole the camera basically all weekend to take with them in the event one of them got the big one when they were out hunting! So, I do not have a picture of Kim for the posting :(

A Little History......

After everyone has talked about how much fun blogging is, I decided that it was time to give it a whirl. Now that Anderson is here, I feel that we now have something that people would actually like to read about--instead of just Brad and me! I think that it is necessary to give everyone a little history of where we have been and what we have been up to the past few months and a few tidbits about the past 4 years. As there are many significant events that have taken place! So here we go, from the oldest to the most recent.....

August 7, 2004: Brad and Jennifer get married!
August 2004: Jennifer moves to Mississippi to join Brad.
December 2004: We move to Memphis.
August 2005: We move to back to Charleston.

fast forward a couple of years...

December 2007: We find out they are going to have a baby!
March 2008: Playing for team blue...it's a boy!
June 2008: We move from Charleston to another city in the lowcountry.
August 15, 2008: Anderson, our sweet baby boy makes his debut.

There have been many other fun things I would love to talk about---2 fabulous baby showers, vsiting with our friends in Charleston who also had babies over the summer, trip to HHI and the Heritage, trip to Baltimore and NYC, all of our friends and family who have come to visit, Paige and Charlie get engaged, the engagement party---but this is becoming the world's longest post so I will refrain!

Since August, life has been about the adjustment period and learning how to be first time parents to Anderson. We are getting the hang of it and are excited about what is to come!
So, here we go....I am going to start the official regular blogging updates with Halloween and our little cowboy!
