Bad Hair Day!

After a long, hard night's rest and I imagine spending most of the night with is head up against the crib bumper......Anderson woke up with some very wild hair! I could not get it to stay down for anything! I wet and combed it and as it dried it would start sticking back up again!

I guess we are going to all have bad hair days from time to time!

Wedding at Old Sheldon Church Ruins.

A good family friend was married at the Old Sheldon Church Ruins on Saturday afternoon. I have passed the Ruins time after time riding down Old Sheldon Church Road without a second glance. Brad is a history buff (he is very well-rounded!)and particularly enjoys SC history and I was excited to visit it again (I remember briefly going there on a elementary school field trip) and appreciate the history behind it. It was originally named Prince Williams Parish Church, erected in 1745-55 and it was burned twice. Once during the American Revolution by the British and again by Sherman's army and the walls still refused to fall--what is there now is what is left 120 years later! No doubt about it---it is an absolutely beautiful place to have a wedding ceremony! Maggie (the bride) is such an easygoing person and she did not let the fact that the bottom fell out right before the procession, the wedding party walked down the aisle with umbrella's, and her couture gown was dragging in the mud bother her one bit. The punchline from her dad at the reception was that the "roof leaked"---take notice that there is no roof!

Brad was recently invited to plink around with his metal detector on some property in Beaufort that has some tabby ruins.....thanks for the invite Silvia (and Lou too!)....being at the wedding has gotten his wheels turning and he has already started to do some background research!

9 months and counting!

Anderson had his 9 month appointment the Friday before Memorial Day! Yes, it has already been 9 months. Hard for me to swallow also! He showed all of his new tricks including crawling on his hands and knees, half-kneeling, pulling up to standing, and making all sorts of vocalizations like "ba", "blah", "brah", "ahh", "ya", and "ma". I have heard him say "da", but my sweet boy prefers to say "ma"....you think he might be a mamma's boy??!!

His 9 month report card---

Weight: 18lb, 13 oz (10-25%)

Height: 28 inches (25-50%)

Head Circumference: 18 (50-75%)

He will eat anything we put in his mouth and loves his food and not so much the bottle---it is a struggle to get him to take it sometimes. He can finger feed and is a pro at cheerios, gerber puffs, banana, green beans, peas, and carrots. We have started meats now and he has had some of a chicken nugget and some ground up turkey. He surprised me recently and drank some juice from a straw!

He crawls all over the place now and pulls up on anything he can (and some things that he should not!). He will cruise on the furniture very slowly and has let go and stood on his own for about 4 seconds a few times. He likes to bang things together, put his index finger in holes, and take everything out of his toy basket. I am looking forward the near future when he is all about putting things IN the basket :) In the past few days, he has taken to throwing a toy and then going after it.

He is such a good natured little boy and we are so blessed to have him--- we thank the good lord every single day!

Water Babies!

Late afternoon on Sunday we went to a pool party at Hampton Lake! It was great to finally get all the husbands together as most of us girls do things during the week w/ the kiddos. We had lots of yummy food and I had my cooler with cold Coronita's.....it was such a nice way to spend the evening and I hope that we are able to do it again soon!

Beach Bum!

Last Friday, Anderson and I went to the beach with some of our friends Amanda & Harper and Kristin & Aiden. This was Anderson's first time on the beach! He was in heaven with endless crawling area--and I was happy too b/c there were no lamp cords to pull! He, of course, sampled the sand and tried to eat some shells and dead marsh grass! He splashed in the waves and crawled in the sand until he was plum worn out! This is an outing that I am planning on doing quite often this summer!

He kept his sunglasses (a gift from his grandaddy) on for almost the whole time--- his cute monogrammed sunhat was not so lucky! Kristin got a few pictures of 3 boys together and I think she might have gotten them all looking at the camera :) I will post those when she sends them!

TA-DA!!!

I completed my first smocking project! I am still in disbelief that I actually did this!! Katy, one of my BFF's from growing up, has been my very patient teacher and mentor on this project. She has recently been starting to work on her amazing sewing skills so I am thinking if I play my cards right, I might be able to convince her to teach me to sew one of these days (wink, wink!!). It has been so fun and I am excited that I have a new hobby!! There is only 1 obvious goof (that I can see)---so if you can't tell, then I won't!!

Here is my next project: An adorable lime green microcheck overall bubble that is going to have a little dinosaur smocked on it! I have found a wonderful lady who will make custom ready to smock items any color/pattern/fabric/size that you want. If anyone is interested, I will pass along her info!

Anderson's Wedding Debut!

Anderson wasn't a participant in the wedding, much to my sister's disappointment. He was (and is!) just too young and Brad and I thought it way to risky to have him part of the events. But he did make it down for a photo shoot so we could have him in some formal shots with everyone all dressed up! These pictures were captured on Aunt Bobbie's camera :)

The wedding weekend, Anderson stayed home and was spoiled rotten by Aunt Bobbie! She flew down from Virginia Thursday night before the wedding and stayed with him the whole weekend so we would not have to worry about him at all! It was the perfect situation and we are so grateful that she was here!! She had to leave poor Uncle Daniel at home b/c he got the flu.
