To the Pumpkin Patch!

On Friday we went to the pumpkin patch with Kristen and Aiden! The pumpkin patch is in a nearby town about 40 minutes away in what I would certainly consider the country for sure! It would be easy to get lost getting there, but once you see the huge satellite dish painted as pumpkin you have arrived! It is hard to get into the fall event spirit when it is 85 degrees with 99% humidity---didn't seem to bother Anderson at all, the boy got his pumpkin and even a green tractor as a souvenir!

Anderson and Aiden getting ready for the hayride!

He found his pumpkin!

He went from pumpkin to pumpkin trying pick each one up. It was a hoot watching him try and pick up the ones that weighted twice as much as him! He settled one that was just his size and he did not let go of it!

Who Needs a Bathing Suit?

I know I have mentioned this before, but one of Anderson's favorite things to do is explore the salt pan. He pulls at the pickleweed, picks up saltmarsh periwinkles, and digs in the mud to entertain himself! These were taken a few weeks back and it was quite hot--even though just last week we had some unseasonably high temperatures!! We actually just walked down to see Brad and Charlie fishing the salt pan and not to swim in the outgoing tide, thus the baby in the buff!

Picking up treasures he finds!

He has a periwinkle in his fingers!

A Big Time!

Anderson had a big time last weekend! We went to his buddy Cooper's 1st birthday party in BFT and as you can see from the below picture, the cupcake was a big hit!

After the party, I dropped him off at BeeGee and Big Daddy's house to spend the night! Brad and I had a party to go to and since I was already in Beaufort and knew about the birthday party and our need for a sitter that Saturday night and I was able to "book" my parents for that night! You have to make an appointment with my parents, they are ALWAYS on the go!

Anderson is now mobile on 2 feet now! Just last week he really started to take off. He was been taking steps here and there for about 2 months, but always preferred to crawl. Last week I think he decided that walking really does get me from point A to point B pretty fast. He has that cute "frankenstein" walk going! There was plenty of new things to explore at BeeGee and Big Daddy's and he had a ball :)

It was nice to be without child responsiblities for 24 hours, but I was so excited to go and pick him up on Sunday afternoon!

Life's Better Outdoors!

2 Saturdays ago, we went to BFT to a educational/promotional event that DNR Dad was volunteering. The Department of Natural Resources brought their virtual fishing trailer and a table full of educational materials about the outdoors & DNR freebies! We also used this opportunity to catch-up with some BFT friends---Chris and Katy and their 2 kiddies :)

The shark slide inflatable was HUGE!

My Poster Child!

I absolutely love Anderson's 1 year pictures and I look at them more than is probably considered normal! I bought the rights to all the pictures taken b/c it would have been an unrealistic expectation to have me just choose a few to have! I did order many of my favorites in different sizes for around the house and now just need to decided where to put them. Here is a sample of some of my favorites and what you might see on our walls, on mantles, shelves, and any other flat surface!

Dork Induction.

Congratulations to Paige who was inducted into the Nursing Honor Society on Sunday! We drove to the mid-state for the "dork induction" as Brad so affectionately dubbed it--just a joke...we are always taking friendly jabs at one another!
Later that afternoon, we visited with our friends Stephen and Lindsay. They had a baby girl, Caroline, about a month ago on 8/18/09. She is such a doll!

Me, Lindsay, and Caroline..I need a haircut something awful!

Brad and his boy.

This picture could fool you--he never sits!

Taking a breather--he did not get a proper nap all day!

Playing with his hot wheels car he got at Mickey D's on the way up!

We stopped about halfway to get gas and lunch and we ran into Brad's former boss, Elizabeth, and her husband, Randy, at the gas pump! They were stopping to eat too, so we were able to lunch and catch up at the McDonald's attached to the gas station. Glamorous, I know. I was the only one all dressed up in the whole joint. Everyone else, I think, was traveling home from football games!

Island Nightlife!

I was chatting it up on the phone the other day with a friend of mine and she asked if I had been out recently to check up on the nightlife now that most vacations are over, kids are in school, and most are getting into the swing of fall. I told her that as a matter of fact I had! Just last week some of us enjoyed girls night. Although this fine establishment was actually off island, a couple of weeks back Brad and went to a wine bar on the south end with some friends and it was not crowded at all!

Ansley, Me, and Amy

I did not get a picture of everyone that came b/c some came for dinner and did not come to the afterparty and some joined us later after previous plans--- I had already tucked the blackberry back in my purse. We had a blast and there was even a celebrity sighting (old school one), a mysterious bottle of champagne that ended up on the table, and one late night! My friend Kara gets the lucky award as she had to wake up her daughter at 10:30 the next morning, while the rest of us had to get up normal time (7ish for me)! That is why I should get home before 1am! We had all Friday to relax and met up with some of Anderson's buddies for lunch and playing at the sandbox. That's always a good day!
